Each and every rescued animal that comes into our organization, as a rule, comes with some "baggage" (medical issues). Even if they are relatively healthy, they still need to be thoroughly vet checked, vaccinnated, spay or neutered, dewormed, housed and fed until they go to there "forever home". For those of you who are responsible pet owners, you know how costly this is.

CANS FOR CRITTERS
When you redeem your pop cans and bottles at the supermarket, send us your register receipts and we can use it to buy food and litter for the shelter animals. This is also a good community service project if you are affiliated with a boy or girl scout group. They collect and redeem the cans/bottles and donate the money to the shelter. Sometimes they can earn badges this way.
COINS FOR CRITTERS
A penny is just a penny until it is put with 99 other pennies and rolled in a wrapper, then it becomes a dollar. When you have spare pennies, put them aside for a day when you have time to roll them and then cash them in at the bank and send a check or moneyorder to the shelter. Nobody misses a penny, but they all add up after a while. This is also a good community service project for a organization or scout group. For the shelter animals these would be "PENNIES FROM HEAVEN!"

Second Chance took in a 4 week old kitten who had a cord wrapped around his right back leg which had to be amputated. Needless to say, our vet bills for "Tripod" were extreamly high, to say the least. Our organization takes in animals that would not be able to be accommodated in a traditional shelter setting, whether they are injured, sick, pregnant or just need a little bit of TLC to get them back on their feet.
